One deep tool
at a time.
We are a two-person studio. We build Renpai Studio, a production cockpit for Ren'Py visual novels, and we build it because we needed it for our own. Everything here is made by the people who have to use it.
i · the studio is a loop
idea the script a need a still the build
Characters, places and continuity live as data, so a scene knows who is in it and what they last wore.
You write a scene. A need appears. An agent works the studio. The asset comes back, and the project runs. The six surfaces are not a required order.
ii · control, one rung at a time
The model invents the shot. Roughly five tries per usable still, and the one you keep is often still generic.
Still guessed by the model face, outfit, framing, camera
A character sheet and a saved prompt hold the face and the look steady across a hundred images.
Still guessed by the model framing, camera
You pose the figure and set the camera yourself. The model styles a composition you already specified.
Still guessed by the model nothing you chose to decide
Two mannequins hold the pose and the camera decides the frame. What the model receives is that picture, so what comes back is the same staging, dressed and lit. Nobody wrote the word kneeling and hoped.
iii · the stack it joins
Daz
Blender
Honey Select
Clip Studio
Renpai sits on top of the tools a visual novel is already made with, and it is never the artist of record. It routes a shot, keeps a cast consistent across a hundred images, and assembles the result into a Ren'Py build. What it does not do is decide how anything looks.
iv · how it behaves on your machine
A desktop application that works with the network off. Your project, your files, your database, on your disk.
Creating and generating never require signing in. There is nothing to log into, because we host nothing of yours.
Generation runs on your provider keys at cost. We are not reselling credits and we never hold a balance for you.
v · the studio
Small hops,
real distance.
A hoplet is a small jump. The studio is two people, one tool and a game being made with it, and the plan is to keep shipping in short hops for a long time rather than one heroic leap that ends the studio. The frog has a wizard hat because the work is unglamorous and the mascot does not have to be.
